Our Story

Because a good night is mostly the pillow — and we got tired of guessing.

Mostly Pillow was founded in 2024 by Nancy B. Jackson to answer the question every “how to wash your pillow” article gets wrong: which pillow. Fill-specific care, honest troubleshooting, and zero pay-for-placement rankings.

Who We Are

A small, independent pillow-care resource

Not a review mill. Not a brand’s marketing arm. Just fill-specific, tested advice.

Mostly Pillow exists because the internet’s pillow-care advice treats every pillow the same — wash on gentle, tumble dry low, done. That advice works for some fills and quietly ruins others.

We write guides that start with the fill first: down, memory foam, latex, fiberfill, buckwheat — each one behaves differently in water, heat, and time. Our job is to tell you which rules actually apply to the pillow you own, not the one a generic article assumed you own.

We’re a small editorial team, not an outsourced content mill, and every guide is written and reviewed in-house.

✓

Fill-First, Not Generic

Every guide is written around the specific material inside your pillow.

✓

No Pay-for-Placement

Manufacturers cannot buy a better ranking in our guides.

✓

Restoration Over Replacement

We’d rather teach you to fix a pillow than sell you a new one.

✓

In-House Editorial Team

Written and reviewed by our own team — not outsourced, unedited content.

What We Do

3

Buying Guidance

4

Longevity Advice

How to extend a pillow’s life instead of defaulting to the trash.

Our History

How we got here

2024

Mostly Pillow Founded

Nancy B. Jackson founds Mostly Pillow after years of frustration with vague, one-size-fits-all pillow-care advice.

2024–2026

2024: The “Research and Ruin” Phase, 2025: Documenting the Protocols, 2026: Building the Platform

the site evolved from hands-on laundry experiments into a fully documented, evidence-based resource.

August 2026

Site Launches With First Care Guide

Mostly Pillow publishes its first guide, “Pillow Care 101,” laying out the fill-specific care matrix the whole site is built around.

September 2026

Troubleshooting Category Added

Mostly Pillow expands beyond care and cleaning into diagnosing and fixing common pillow problems.

Mission & Values

What we won’t compromise on

Six principles behind every guide we publish.

01

Fill-Specific Advice, Never Generic Tips

The Principle

Memory foam is not down, and latex is not polyester. Blanket “one-size-fits-all” cleaning advice destroys expensive bedding.

The Promise

Every wash, dry, and fluff tutorial is strictly tailored to the exact cellular or fibrous makeup of your specific pillow.

02

Zero “Pay-For-Placement” Endorsements

The Principle

Trust is built on transparency, not sponsorships. We do not accept payment from manufacturers to rank their products higher.

The Promise

If a product makes it into our guides, it’s there solely because it passed rigorous, independent testing.

03

Ending the Disposable Bedding Cycle

The Principle

A yellowed, flat, or clumpy pillow is usually just misunderstood, not dead. We reject the six-month replacement narrative.

The Promise

We focus on restoration, maintenance, and longevity — saving you money and reducing unnecessary landfill waste.

04

Evidence-Based Care Protocols

The Principle

We rely on textile science and manufacturer specifications, not viral internet hacks. If a “quick trick” damages structural integrity, we call it out.

The Promise

Our methods are rooted in proven laundering principles that protect the shell and fill without risking mold or mildew.

05

Health & Hygiene as a Baseline

The Principle

A pillow is a biological filter that collects dust mites, sweat, and allergens every night — care is a health matter, not just comfort.

The Promise

We prioritize deep-cleaning methods that eradicate microbes and allergens without harsh chemical residue.

06

Practical, Accessible Execution

The Principle

Professional-grade bedding care shouldn’t require a commercial laundromat or expensive specialty equipment.

The Promise

Whether you have a high-efficiency washer or just a bathtub and baking soda, our guides are built for real people in real homes.

How We Work

Our Editorial Process

4 actionable steps tailored to the way we work.

1

Identify the Fill

Every guide starts by isolating which material — down, foam, latex, fiberfill — the advice applies to.

2

Check the Science

We cross-reference textile care standards and manufacturer specs rather than repeating internet folklore.

3

Write in Plain Language

We answer the question first, then explain why — no padding, no filler.

4

Review & Publish

Every guide is reviewed in-house before it goes live, and revisited if something changes.

From the Founder

A note from Nancy

“

I used to be caught in that frustrating, wasteful pillow cycle: I’d buy something I loved, watch it get flatter and yellowed over six months, and eventually throw it in the trash simply because I was terrified I’d ruin it by trying to clean it properly.

This site is the resource I wished I had when I was waking up every day with neck pain and allergies from an overlooked pillow.
